This course is based around the reading, analysis and discussion of, as well as the written response to a number of English-language texts, mainly newspaper/magazine articles on current topics.
The aim is to foster your reading comprehension, enrich your vocabulary and acquaint you with vocabulary learning strategies, and finally to strengthen your argumentative writing skills, including essay organization and construction (Introduction/Thesis Statements, Body, Conclusion), summary and paraphrase, some grammatical issues (punctuation, capitalization of nouns, verb choice, tense, voice and use, etc.), editing and proofreading.
PLEASE NOTE - All students signing up for the 4531 class should also sign up for the shorter companion/workship course 4532, as both will be needed as preparation for the end-of-semester SK - Englisch - Exam |
