The seminar enables students to gain in-depth knowledge of emerging research topics in self-driving cars and embodied agents. Students learn to research, analyze, and critically discuss recent topics on perception, world understanding, reasoning, decision-making, and learning in autonomous systems. In addition, students strengthen their skills in scientific presentation, discussion, and structured assessment of current research trends. Autonomous vehicles, mobile robots, and embodied AI are an active research area. This seminar introduces students to recent advances in how such systems perceive the world, combine information from multiple sensors, reason about complex environments, and act safely under uncertainty. Students are intended to read and research, present, and discuss selected publications on topics evolving around intelligent vehicle and autonomous embodied agents. Topics may include: - Automotive- and robot vision - Foundation models and multimodal learning for self-driving cars - Vision-language-action models and generalist embodied AI systems - Perception and scene understanding for autonomous driving and robotics - 3D vision and multimodal sensor fusion using camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and related sensors - Spatial understanding, world models, and decision-making in dynamic environments Format: There are two kick-off meetings on 23. and 30.04 (attendance mandatory). After this, there will be a research phase. During this phase, there will be no regular group meetings with all seminar participants. Instead, students will meet with their supervisor on assigned dates during the regular seminar slot in the seminar room. At the end of the semester, there will be final presentation sessions (attendance mandatory). The number of presentation slots depends on the number of participants. |
