Climate change is the greatest threat facing humanity and our planet. As educators, we have a clear role to play. Education is critical for achieving effective, sustained climate action. Article 12 of the Paris Agreement calls for all countries to deliver climate change education. But how do we actually do this in schools? The seminar will explore relevant frameworks, concepts and practices of climate change education around the globe. Doing so we will distinguish the differences between education for climate literacy, education for sustainable development and education for a green economy. Futhermore we will review the implications of UNESCO´s recent report "Reimagining Our Futures Together. A New Social Contract for Education" for climate change education. Finally we will look at how schools can develop, implement and support teaching and learning about climate change across the subjects and the curriculum. The seminar will be held in English. All the texts and course materials will be in English as well.
