Technical requirements (ZOOM): solid internet connection, headphones + microphone + webcam. You are advised to use your laptop/desktop computer (instead of mobile phone).

This lecture touches on the fundamental issues and principles of Foreign Language Teaching and Learning. You will be able to gather insights into theoretical, empirical, and pedagogical aspects of (instructed) second language acquisition and English didactics. You will be provided with research-based knowledge which will be linked to practical issues of L2 classroom teaching. This way you will be able to get first insights into the various facets and fields of FLT theory and practice. As the sessions will be held by different experts, you will get to know numerous members of the English department.

The class will also introduce the English Department's special Certificate Program: In the course of your studies at Hildesheim University, you can enrol in the Zertifikatsstudium and obtain the "Zertifikat für Bilinguales Lehren und Lernen" in addition to your regular Master of Education. This certificate qualifies you for bilingual teaching in primary and secondary school program.
