This online course focuses on the analysis of contemporary young adult fiction in which domestic
and sexual abuse play an important role. The protagonists of these novels are
usually not able to talk about their suffering. Together we will read three novels and examine how
this lack of expressiveness is being compensated by the author by the use of
narrative techniques. The usage of these novels at school will be discussed and
possible teaching units/ lessons developed.
