Learning Outcomes:
Soils in tropics and subtropics: influence of climate change on the biodiversity activities impact on the ecosystem services and functions
Goal of the course:
- Soil focusing on the tropics, subtropics- current state, threats, impacts due to climate change and the adaptation strategies opted from the policy level to farmers level
- Role of soil in the food production and resource assessment under the extreme climate change scenarios
- Evaluate some case studies and reports of the tropics and subtropics (including Aridic and semi-aridic regions) -> focus can be tropical forests, tropical agriculture, livestock, land use change

Competence in Scientific paper reviewing, Case study analysis, report writing, Interactive
Working assessment:
Written Review assessment -> 5-8 pages peer review report(includes peer review assessment from students after assigning)
Lecture:
- Soil and biodiversity: Overall background on soil science in the tropics and subtropics: impact brought by climate change on soil, soil biodiversity, production and carbon sequestration· Forests and agroforestry: Soils in the agroforestry systems and impact brought by the land use change
- Agriculture: Food production (intensification/extensification): climate change impact
- Livestock: Grazing pattern change, Impact on animals (including nutrition and their production)
- Strategies and assessment: Mitigating strategies adopted/challenges in implementing policies and further actions
