English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms are becoming more diverse, encompassing students from various linguistic, cultural and educational backgrounds as well as students with special educational needs. This means that highly heterogeneous students learn inclusively side-by-side in mainstream schools and that EFL teachers have to be able to cater for learners with different individual needs.
Following a broad understanding of inclusion, this course will provide an introduction into the theoretical concept of inclusion and its practical implications for the EFL classroom. The seminar aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and manage an inclusive language learning environment, with a special focus on the integration of learners' linguistic resources as tools for learning English.
