In this seminar we will investigate the representation and negotiation of evil in Shakespeare’s history play Richard III. We will take ample time for close readings of the play and for the application of Matthew Kramer's definition of evil.
Students have to acquire and read William Shakespeare's Richard III in the Arden Shakespeare Edition (second editon ISBN-13: 978-1904271093 or third edition ISBN-13: 978-1903436899) as well as Matthew H. Kramer's article "The Nature of Evil" (available under http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2162389). |
