Lerninhalte |
The seminar will have both theoretical and practical parts. The work will be organised in form of small projects that can be carried out in groups. Individual work is also possible. In the end, every student needs to present the results of the project which will be in the end of the seminar in an oral presentation.
In this seminar, we will first learn the main concepts of discourse, including different approaches on the discourse-related linguistic phenomena. The overview of discourse theories will be provided from the point of view of relations and conceptions. We will compare different theories and approaches, also from a multilingual perspective. We will also learn about the studies of discourse in machine translation. Then, we will use corpus-based methods to analyse these phenomena in both non-translated and translated texts, mainly focusing on those produced with machine translation systems. |
